Andy Morris, DMU's Employability Mentoring officer, is welcoming student mentees to the successful project.
It involves matching students (mentees) with industry professionals (mentors) who draw on their career experience and knowledge to help improve their mentee's employability.
A growing number of students are taking advantage of the skills and understanding of the participating industry mentors. They’re seeing genuine benefit from spending time discussing the things that matter to them when it comes to their careers. And although it is a commitment, it doesn’t take over life - just meeting for an hour every month is invaluable.
The mentors are friendly, approachable and find it rewarding too. They enjoy sharing techniques and knowledge of their industry and experiences to illustrate ways to tackle their mentee’s concerns.
Fill out the short form on www.dmu.ac.uk/employabilitymentoring or tweet Andy @DMUMentoring to arrange an informal chat. In the meantime, be inspired by the new mentoring video on YouTube.
“Students should know about mentoring more than it’s advertised. [They] need to understand the importance of it.” Baljinder Kaur, 2014/15 mentee.
