21Century Law competition

The closing date for entries is 23:59 on 12 May 2015.

The competition is being organised by Harbottle & Lewis, a leading Technology, Media and Entertainment law firm, and Proceed, the portal for legal student and graduate careers. Two finalists will each win a week-long work placement at Harbottle & Lewis, where they’ll get first hand work experience and be closely mentored by Harbottle & Lewis lawyers, plus a guaranteed first round training contract interview. The three runners up will also receive a first round training contract interview.

About the competition

The rules of the competition are simple. Candidates will be asked to answer one of two questions in no more than 500 words. You’ll need to demonstrate your intelligence, ability to identify key commercial and legal issues and provide practical solutions to identified problems. You’ll also need to complete a Proceed profile to ensure you meet the entry criteria. To be eligible to enter you will need to be studying or have studied law (please see the T&Cs on the competition site).

The responses will be judged and independently reviewed and, based purely on merit, the 12 most outstanding eligible entries will be shortlisted. The shortlisted candidates will be invited to discuss their answer with a panel of judges comprising of one lawyer and a member of the HR department at Harbottle & Lewis and myself as the Law Society representative. The two winners and three runners up will be notified by the 20 of July.
