On-campus recruitment agency, Unitemps
Unitemps is a recruitment agency created at the University of Warwick which now operates franchises throughout the Midlands and the South East. De Montfort University partner with the University of Leicester to offer provision across Leicester and Leicestershire
What do we do?
Our sole aim is to help our students gain valuable employability skills by providing paid work opportunities on a temporary basis locally.
Unitemps look after filling all temporary positions within the University by recruiting students and external candidates. In addition, we are looking to work with businesses within the LE post code area who may have a need for casual staff, or are indeed looking to recruit new graduates. We offer a full recruitment service - from initial advertising of your vacancies, to screening the applicants, to shortlisting, submission of CVs, arranging of interviews, and payroll of successful candidates.
As our primary objective is to enhance our students’ employability, our costs are purposely kept low in order to generate as many opportunities for our students as possible. However, we do realise that certain roles would preclude students from working. For example, if it was a full-time role a student would not be put forward as full-time hours would impact on their studies. In this situation, we would look at our pool of staff from the local community.
None of the office staff earn any bonus or commission for their work, and should any surplus be made, it is reinvested directly into the University to be used for other employability initiatives.
In the past we have filled vacancies in administration, customer service, translation, housekeeping, IT, retail, events and hospitality, and many more.
What can you do?
If you have a vacancy that you would like us to source candidates for, whether temporary or permanent, then the process could not be easier.
All you need to do is contact us by either emailing unitemps@dmu.ac.uk or calling 0116 207 8351.
Once we have discussed your requirements, we will advertise the vacancy on our website and let you know what results we get.
Once you take a temporary worker on, you will be responsible for approving the hours worked by them. You will be given a PIN to access the website and approve timesheets online.
The University will then send you a monthly invoice for the cost of the timesheets.
