Employability Mentoring Project
Welcome to the project
The Careers and Employability Team at De Montfort University is proud to provide Employability Mentoring to students using the skills and knowledge of industry professionals in order to aid the transition from student/graduate to successful employee. Mentoring DMU students will brings out the best in you whilst informing the career development of someone else.
What is the project?
The Mentoring project aims to increase the employability of our students with the help of industry mentors. By providing a platform to develop supportive relationships, this scheme seeks to match students to those in employment who can share their expertise and aid the student’s career development. Mentors can benefit from the project by honing their skills in communication and by learning how to bring out the best in their mentees.
How does Employability Mentoring sit within Careers?
Employability Mentoring is one of many great strands of work that brings industry into contact with De Montfort University students. By focusing on building quality relationships between mentors and mentees, Employability Mentoring complements a range of other initiatives that work to give students the best platform to launch their career. These opportunities include paid work on campus, paid work within industry, internships, setting up their own businesses, part-time work and jobs within the local labour market.
